C/R: Vehicle runs over Police officer to death at Gomoa Akotsi
A Police Officer has met his untimely death after a Kia Rino truck run over a police patrol vehicle with registration number GP-483 and dragged it into a store at Gomoa Akotsi in the Central Region.
The crash which occurred Monday, April 22, 2025, left five others critically injured.
Information gathered indicates that the police officers numbering about five who were on their daily patrol had packed their vehicle along the roadside at Gomoa Akotsi.
The Kia Rino which was coming from the opposite direction failed it brakes and rammed into the police vehicle, dragging it into a store nearby.
Journalist Alex Donkor in an interview with New York-based Adinkra Radio reported that due to the huge impact, a police officer who was sitting in the bucket of the police vehicle unfortunately fell down with his neck hitting the tarred road leading to his death, while five others sustained critical injuries.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased police officer has-been deposited at the Winneba Special and Trauma Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
The injured persons are also receiving treatment at the same hospital.
The Driver of the Kia Rano has been arrested and is assisting Police with investigation.
