Dumsor: Akufo-Addo has taken Ghanaians for granted, let’s organise a vigil – Yvonne Nelson

Actress Yvonne Nelson has rallying policy think tank IMANI Africa for a protest against the Akufo-Addo government over the current interruption in power supply commonly known as “dumsor.”

Ghanaians have in the past few months been experiencing erratic power supply affecting businesses and individuals.

In 2015, Ghana experienced severe power outages resulting in the citizens expressing their displeasure in various ways. Actress and producer Ms Nelson organised a huge protest against the John Mahama government over the erratic outages.

The policy think tank IMANI Ghana was instrumental in making the demonstration a success. Numerous well-known Ghanaians participated in the 2015 vigil, which called attention to the effects of power outages on everyday life.

Residents of Kumasi on April 17, 2024 held a vigil attended by hundreds of demonstrators protesting over the power supply issue.

Ms Nelson in a post on X on Monday stated that she is waiting for IMANI to reach out to her for the vigil like it did in 2015.

“Imani Ghana, can we organize another vigil? I’ve been waiting for you to reach out like you did years back. ( your team made our demo a success ) I’m reaching out myself. The NPP and its leadership @NAkufoAddo  have taken Ghanaians for granted. DUMSORMUSTSTOP,” she said.
