TOR denies claims of takeover by Sentuo Oil Refinery

The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has denied allegations of a takeover by Sentuo Oil Refinery.

The denial follows reports that a meeting was conducted to talk about selling the State’s refinery to a private oil refinery run by Chinese people.

In a statement released on Monday, April 8, 2024, Mensah Thompson, the Executive Director of ASEPA, stated that TOR management and Sentuo Oil Refinery Ltd. had met to discuss the sale of TOR.

On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, TOR released a statement in which they emphasized that no discussions have taken place regarding the sale of the Refinery.

Sentuo currently pays them, according to TOR, to hold some of its crude oil in the storage tanks of the refinery. Sentuo then pumps the crude oil back to TOR when it is ready for refinement.

TOR added that it values its connections with stakeholders and will swiftly notify them of any significant developments.
