We don’t sit on Ghana card to work so it’s not better than Interchanges – Care Ghana Boss

The Executive Director of Care for Free and Fair Elections Ghana, Mr. David Kumi Addo, has criticised the New Patriotic Party’s Dr. Bawumia over comments made about the Ghana Card being better than 1000 interchanges.

Mr. Kumi Addo, reacting to the recent increase of passport application fees, stated that the Ghana Card, touted as a great achievement of the NPP, could not be used to move from Togo into Ghana.

“NPP should not deceive us. A Ghanaian in possession of the Ghana Card was denied entry at the Togo border after the vice president made those claims, so it’s not true.”, Mr Kumi Addo said

In July 2022, the vice president indicated that Ghanaians did not fully appreciate the government’s digitalisation drive. He said the government’s pursuit of digitalisation is not for its own sake but as a vehicle to transform the economy.

“If you gave me 1000 interchanges and the Ghana card, I would choose the Ghana card because it has more impact,” Dr. Bawumia said.

Despite the statement’s length, Mr. Kumi Addo, unable to hide his contention, remarked that Ghanaians do not drive to work on the Ghana card, so the vice president’s statement was not accurate.
