Owusu Bempah aide busted, charged with threats of death

An aide to Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah, Head Pastor of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International Accra, has been arrested.

Suspect Bright Berchie, 30, has been on the police wanted list after he absconded on Sunday, 12 September 2021 when the police visited the church to arrest him and three others for brandishing a weapon as captured in a viral video and also issuing death threats to Nana Agradaa.

While the other suspects were arrested, including Rev Owusu Bempah, Mr Berchie bolted.

Following his arrest, the police, in a statement, said he has been charged with threats of death, offensive conduct and the possession of a firearm without lawful authority.

The police said a weapon has been retrieved from him for ballistic examination to aid the further investigation.

Meanwhile, Rev Owusu Bempah has been granted bail in the sum of GHS200,000 with two sureties.

He has been charged with two counts of Offensive Conduct Conducive to the breach of peace and threat of death, while his accomplices were also charged with assault on a public officer.

They all pleaded not guilty in their first court appearance on 15 September 2021.
