Electoral Commission to hold Ejisu by-election April 30

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that the by-election in Ejisu in the Ashanti Region will be held on April 30, 2024, following the death of the Member of Parliament Dr. John Kumah on March 7, 2024.

All nine aspirants seeking to contest the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary primary in the constituency were on Saturday, April 6, 2024 cleared by the vetting committee.

The governing party opened nominations on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, and all nine successfully filed at the time nomination closed on Thursday, April 4.

The NPP has fixed Saturday, April 13, 2024 to elect a parliamentary candidate for the constituency

For now, no other political party expressed interest in the by-election.

The leading opposition party has said it is still considering whether to take part in the by-election.
