GoldBod, National Security foil attempt by foreigners to smuggle gold

The Ghana Gold Board, in collaboration with National Security, has arrested three Indian nationals for engaging in illegal gold trading, bringing the total number of foreigners arrested to six.

According to the police, the suspects were arrested in Anyinam, located in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Items retrieved during the operation included gold bars, stacks of cash, and money-counting machines.

This latest arrest follows an earlier one on April 29, 2025, involving three other Indian nationals, which occurred before the Ghana Gold Board’s official announcement directing foreign nationals to exit Ghana’s gold trading market.

However, according to the Head of Public Relations at the Ghana Gold Board, Prince Minkah, the three recently arrested individuals will be arraigned to face the full rigour of the law.
