Odumase Police on manhunt for carjacking ringleader

The Odumase Police Command has launched a manhunt for a suspected notorious carjacker, Solomon Siaw Tetteh, believed to be the mastermind behind a string of car thefts within the Krobo enclave in the Eastern Region.

The suspect, who is identified as the ringleader of a car theft syndicate, reportedly operates alongside a group that targets vehicle owners, trails them to their homes, and steals their cars.

The stolen vehicles are then transported to a hideout in Nuaso, located in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.

In a bizarre twist to their criminal operations, the group is said to dismantle the stolen vehicles, cut up the car bodies, and mould them into coal pots. Other valuable parts, including engines, seats, and tyres, are stripped and sold separately.

However, the group’s luck ran out last weekend when they stole a Hyundai H100 from a driver in Nkurakan, near Koforidua — unaware that the vehicle was fitted with a GPS tracker. The owner received an alert and quickly informed the police.
Officers from the Police Headquarters quickly coordinated with the Odumase and Nuaso police to lay an ambush at the exact location where the tracking device signaled. Their swift action led to the arrest of three suspects at the scene, all of whom confirmed their involvement in the criminal operation.

Their leader, Solomon Siaw Tetteh, however, managed to narrowly escape arrest after receiving a tip-off, fleeing his hideout just moments before police stormed the area. His hideout was discovered to be very close to the location of the stolen vehicle.

The Odumase Police say a manhunt is underway for the fugitive ringleader and have assured the public of their resolve to dismantle the criminal syndicate.

Meanwhile, the three arrested suspects remain in custody as investigations continue, with law enforcement ramping up efforts to track down the remaining members.
